Day 12: Beginning of the Storm

The clocks jumped forward an hour today so what seemed like a good lie was probably just a fiction. Leila still didn’t feel great in the morning and had a super weird night of dreams (excel and grandmas). Alex taught Leila how to make coffee and she made the best of all the coffees yet on her first try. We’re not sure if it was Leila’s innate ability or the use of Alchemy beans which are delicious. Either way it was great and we both had two.

Alex wrote his policy memo in the morning and then, after fixing the shower’s heating, joined some of the boys in playing D&D using online tabletop. It took almost an hour and a half to get set up, before we even started. But then we played solidly until 4/5pm. Brendan joined from Hong Kong which was great, as we hadn’t seen or heard from him in ages.

Leila spoke to Ruki on the phone, and decided to go on a walk as Ruki was walking her dog. Everything was closed, it was windy and it started hailing. When she got to Waitrose, the queue was 2.5 hours to get in so she left and wandered back home. Leila watched her Spanish program but a felt a bit worse. She did make an omelette though and Alex had his quiche.

After lunch, Alex started multi-task hoovering, doing all the rooms quite thoroughly, Leila joined in and wiped all the surfaces, and mopped, and cleaned the toilet and did everything. Alex called his roommates back in Boston and it was super nice checking in on them. He then joined Leila chilling on the sofa cause she was feeling even rougher. They watched the cofounder of Oakley, Bjorn Oster, give a talk about entrepreneurship, the company had been around for 18 years before it found success, and they chilled over a glass of wine and Deliveroo ordered Hare and Tortoise. The latter in particular was a success and they felt better before heading up to bed.
