We both woke up tired having not slept well because our brain’s were active. Leila was up at night thinking about direct transfers to people as a way to help with Coronavirus. Alex was thinking about this Coronavirus policy memo. It really is consuming our minds albeit not in a personal stress way. Alex woke up first and showered, playing his sci fi lecture really loudly which woke Leila up. She had already overslept by 10mins so it was acceptable. Leila began “working” (reading lots of articles) and chatted to Freddie on Zoom who had just shaved his head. Alex listened to his lecture and then went out to Lidl whilst reading The Astronaut, a tale of Russian space exploration. He returned with everything on the shopping last apart from Oatly and avoided everyone in the store (quite dramatically). We then sat outside and read the letter delivered from the British government advising everyone to stay at home. It felt very official and real.
Leila started to feel a bit more awake so began working more productively, before breaking to make them both salads for lunch (with 2 sausage rolls and Tabasco bread added for Alex). Alex ate lunch outside whilst on his weekly Forum call with the MPAID class where his Brazilian friend Bea cooked dessert on camera and Berto and Christian taught the class Reggeaton dance moves. He was laughing super loudly and Leila’s work colleague asked what was going in the background. The course supervisor promptly logged off in the middle of the dancing.
Alex had his macro lecture and some micro work (and lecture) in the living room whilst Leila continued working downstairs. She had a kick-off call for her new project with Helen and did 20mins of stretching as her break. She also marinaded the tofu and chopped some veg whilst on a call. We both finished work at around 7.30pm and Leila made the miso-ginger tofu, egg fried vegetable rice (the brown rice was significantly improved vs her first attempt) and miso glazed aubergine. We ate in pyjamas and whilst watching Sherlock, episode 2, which Alex’s aunt appears in. We paused to make a baked pear with ginger and cinnamon topped with peanut butter for dessert, and to grab a glass of the Lidl wine which was impressive for £6. Leila’s attention was fading 2/3 into the programme so decided to call it a night and head to bed before 10pm. We then started talking about Cambridge because Anish sent us old photos (apparently we hung out a few times) before falling asleep.
