Alex rushed to finish his econometrics homework in the morning, while Leila had a really nice bowl of muesli, she had a 1.5 hour long gardening call with the neighbours (3 of whom she had never met). She was the youngest person in the group by at least 30 years and clearly the least experienced. There was an agenda (see chart above) and minutes taken and circulated at they end. They talked about what fruit and veg are currently growing in the garden (wild garlic and Swiss chard are ready to eat now!), different types of compost, how to share tools during the lockdown and then made a schedule for dividing weeding and watering jobs. Leila also landed some pots, chilli seeds, gherkins and tomatoes to grow in the house as she was the only person who has windowsill space left.
Alex joined weekly D&D with his friends whilst simultaneously finishing his homework. Leila went for a 1.5 hour walk whilst she listened to her Spanish podcast and then spoke to Vyoma on the phone. Regent’s Park was insanely busy:
She returned to Alex hoovering – her favourite sight of the week. And she then mopped the floors, cleaned the bathroom and did all the surfaces. She also used the mini hoover to clean the grooves in the table (incl lots of Alex’s hair post haircut) and it was so satisfying. Alex then started making a vegan potato gratin dauphinoise using vegan cream cheese instead of double cream and almond milk rather than full fat milk. The result was tasty but not as expected. Leila ate more potatoes than she has ever eaten and they sat outside with salad and veg on the side, plus a G&T / G&S for Leila. They chatted about ideal jobs and how they both want to start thinking about their next moves. Then Leila convinced Alex to stop working and drink wine (this is rare for Leila) which they did whilst watching The National’s BST 2019 set followed by the Tomorrowland 2012 set and a random selection of music videos (including Michael Jackson and Alt-J). They also went through some old photos from Cambridge and found that Leila has quite a few photos of Alex on her phone which is bizarre as they probably socialised together <5 times throughout the 3 years. After a little more wine and some Pri’s Puddings, Alex went upstairs to find Leila asleep.
