Day 29: Aldi-saster

Leila woke up way before Alex again, and downstairs and working by the time he was ready. Alex realised that he had forgotten about his Microeconomics problem set so after a quick shower rushed down to try and finish it before his 2pm deadline. Leila had worked quite nicely in the morn and took a break at 11 to do a HeartCore live-stream pillates on zoom which she liked because they sent the spotify playlist so she could play as loud as she liked. Plus they all had their videos on (apart from her) and the lady was correcting people’s technique. Leila then didn’t do that much work until 12.30 because Goldman’s results were coming out. They made a bet based on Leila’s guesses, and Alex got the global markets revenue right, Leila got the earnings per share decline right. Overall Goldman didn’t do well but L’s division did. Leila is yet to make good on her bet. Alex meanwhile Alex cooked up his potatoes with mustard, onions, bread, lemon etc. And he really enjoyed it, it felt like Les Arcs style gooey cheese bread.

Leila then found out that she had to present to the CRO with 10 minutes notice so L kicked Alex out and sent him upstairs to do the rest of his work. Alex had a really enjoyable Sci-fi discussion about Solaris, everyone puts their videos on and it was interesting that everyone else loved this book because it had less on political structure world building and more about humans. Alex likes the development of intricate governmental regimes. He had more lectures but they were boring so he multi-tasked. He came down to make a decaf coffee for Leila using the new beans that she’d ordered, it was really good, and potentially one of the best coffees they’ve had so far.

In the evening, Leila took a work break to go for a walk and listen to Spanish. She had a super nice walk to regent’s park but then when she went to Aldi, as she was packing her bags, the cashier coughed in her face and ruined her day. She is now very worried that she has Corona and she’s really upset with Aldi and them not looking after people’s health. She’s also a bit sad that she didn’t say anything, but she will get them back via virtual communications. Leila was upset so took a shower and then came back to make a beautiful salmon dinner which she’d marinated from the morning.

Over dinner, Leila discussed how Alex needs to cook tomorrow night and they watched the Mandalorian and had heated muffins (which Leila also made) and then they went to bed.
