Alex spent the morning going through all his photos to find the best ones of him and his mum, he’d been unable to send a physical card as delivery times were sometime in 2-weeks! He realised that he has LOADS of photos of Leila from a year ago, apparently she kept spamming him with photos of her whenever she was travelling. He found some nice photos and sent them over to his mum in an e-card after they wrote the blog in the garden together. He called his mum and wished her happy 60th and they talked about how much she’s enjoying gardening, the governments failure on Coronavirus supply chain and the amazing breakfast she had.

Leila was having a super intense day of work and spent ages struggling with SharePoint, she was trying to protect her team but had been given an impossibly manual task. In an effort to cheer her up, Alex played badminton (inside) with her over lunch. For the rest of the time, Alex worked on his dData deck, which needs to be presented on Monday evening. He quite enjoyed working on it and thinks its a lot clearer than where he was a year ago.

Alex then had a lecture throughout most of the day, but prepped and was ready to start the zoom with his mum at 6pm when they had organised a surprise party over zoom with lots of her friends. They had 9 of her best family friends join and sing her happy birthday at 6 and everyone had a glass of champagne in hand (except Alex who had a decaf coffee), it was super nice and worked really well on zoom. After people left around 6.40, 3 more of mum’s friends joined and they kept the party going for another hour. Alex’s WiFi kept giving out so he had to drop but there was definitely two parts to the party.
Leila finished work around 7.30pm, and was pretty unhappy after having worked for so long. Alex prepped a plate of cheeses, pickled goods and toast, and they had a charcuterie board (without meat) alongside a spicy daal that Leila had been brewing. She had called her grandma in Toronto to cook alongside her and really enjoyed talking to her. She also got tips on how to freeze coriander.
In the evening, after food they chatted to Alex’s family on FaceTime for a bit before lying= on the sofa and chatting for an age, and Leila noted that Alex being around felt normal and no longer was something unexpected. Alex thought this was pretty normal given they’ve lived together 24/7 for the last 31 days. He offered to watch Suite Life with her but Leila declined to instead have an early night. Arabella and Anish started sending old photos on their group chat and they then went through and found all their early pictures on facebook, they had a bunch all from parties, was quite weird seeing them together at Cambridge. They also counted the number of photos Alex had of Leila. Leila guessed 50 since January. In fact, Alex had 86 all since April 1. 99% of them are unacceptably bad and will never be seen by any one else.
