Leila got up for work feeling pretty tired and worried for Alex, who had started feeling pretty ill in the middle of the night. He woke up at 2am and ended up staying awake to near-on 7am whilst shivering and then sweating. Leila started work but got thinking about what she could do to help Alex when he woke up. She called her mum who advised her and Alex to self-isolate within the house, but she did not listen. Instead, she decided to make a soup with lots of potato, ginger, spices, parsnips, onions and carrots to cure him. It cooked for over an hour and then she went to check on Alex at 11am, who had just woken up. She made sure he had plenty of water and told him she was going to dictate his eating and drinking habits for the day (which he listened to, surprisingly– he was too weak to resist). He got up slowly and felt slightly better post shower and first bite of soup. He also then ate some leftover noodles and tempeh. Leila knew something was wrong as he only had one coffee and it was using the same espresso beans left in the machine from Leila’s morning coffee. Leila then had a call with Ruki and she came back into the house after 20mins and Alex was gone. He had gone upstairs and was reading his Development case study on the sofa with blanket. He also did a little micro, but was taking it easy to recover. Leila then carried on working through to lunch whilst Alex stayed upstairs and started lectures.
Leila checked on Alex again later on and brought him crackers and cheese. He seemed to be a bit better and ploughed on through lectures, although he was less vocal than usual especially in Sci-fi. He came downstairs for his last few lectures of the day. Leila finished work around 7pm and then started setting up her screen. Alex helped her after finishing lectures which sped up the process massively as Leila is not good at building. The screen was huge and they moved it around a few times because they want to see each other across the desk and the screen takes up a huge amount of space. They decided on an easy dinner of roasted vegetables – Alex marinaded the potatoes, carrots, parsnips whilst Leila did broccoli and onions. It then sat in the oven whilst Alex chatted to Chris about life and the Togo project, whilst Leila joined a 1 hour call on the Ismaili work she was doing.
They ate dinner at 9.30pm and watched The Mandalorian together. Alex was sweating because it was tense, Leila was just laughing. Doesn’t really find it tense because she knows Mando will always win and baby Yoda will not die. But she enjoys it nonetheless. They went to bed fairly early around 11pm after speaking to Leila’s mum who was asking for a status update on Alex.
