Alex slept in, but when he came down Leila had started reading on the sofa. They started planning for the day and had a disagreement over whether Alex wanted to help on the Ismaili work. They agreed that they both did want to be super intertwined though and Leila made him a coffee with a heart on it. They sat in the garden and drunk coffee and had some breakfast / lunch. Alex was upset that the mini herb garden (pictured) was dying despite his repeated watering. They read together for a good few hours before Alex joined unfiltered at 2.30 and Leila went to help Kay with the gardening.
Alex enjoyed his unfiltered and Leila loved her gardening. She spent ages with Kay learning about her and her husbands life, they were both design technology teachers and had a daughter who went to Cambridge. Kay loves gardening and he loves building things, most importantly though, Leila learnt how to plant seedlings. She planted some sugar snap peas and some snow peas but waited for Alex to put up a bamboo support wigwam that he really enjoyed tying together. Meanwhile the Camden Grocer delivery Leila ordered arrived and now they are super stocked up.
Leila carried on reading and Alex rejoined the call on Togo, Leila had read 150 pages of The Handmaid’s Tale, which was the subject of her book club early the next day. She was racing through and by the eve, she set herself the challenge of another 50 pages in 2 hours, she went way past that and nearly finished the book by the time the alarm went and Alex came upstairs to grab her. They dressed up in shirts and jumpsuit and had some cheese and crackers as they prepared for their date night task: making gyoza. They also listened to a live universe poetry night that mostly Alex enjoyed. The gyoza was super successful though and they followed the video on the shops website, it was a dude dancing and then being super casual about making gyoza, he’d often pause to point out that he’d forgotten to take the label off his plate, etc. They didn’t have the ingredients in the video which was mostly meat, instead they had wild garlic from the communal garden and lots of other veg chopped up mini. They gyoza turned out really well (Despite difficulty creating the required folds) and they had a glass of wine and ate them together upstairs in the sitting room while listening to music. It was an excellent date night and they were really happy eating gyoza and listening to music, Leila kept repeating how impressed she was with the gyoza making ability.
