Leila woke up before her alarm and decided she wanted to go for a walk, having not left the house the entire day before. She did 45 minutes of work before walking along the canal listening to the FT News Briefing and ended up near Hidden Coffee, which happened to be opening 5 minutes later. She waited and got herself an Oat Flat White. It felt like her old morning routine again. There was a queue of people behind her at 9am waiting to grab the fresh pastries and bread, and she felt glad that their business seemed to still be afloat. Alex was making coffee when she got back and they then went outside to write the blog.
Leila worked through the morning and Alex did his macro and some more work on the Togo project. Leila moved upstairs and wrapped herself in a blanket because she was cold and spent most of the afternoon there. For lunch, Leila made mini miso soups to warm them up which Alex really loved, and it reminded him of his old Pret order when at McKinsey, but better and homemade and with more chilli. Alex also made gnocchi for himself, Leila had her usual salad. Leila called grandma in Toronto after lunch who had made herself a really nice mask and is really enjoying her daily walks and said it has helped her stiff legs (she was previously too nervous to leave as getting out of her apartment building usually requires seeing lots of people and sharing lifts). Leila continued working whilst Alex started lectures, she also had some initial thoughts on career and used Joohee’s excel template. She came downstairs to find him smiling at his screen and knew that he was in his sci-fi lecture as he only looks that way during those classes. Alex started cooking as his micro and dev joint class started at 6.30, whilst Leila went to have a shower and do some adminy tasks. She returned downstairs an hour later, finished off work, opened up the 1x IPA they had left to share and waited for the pie to come out. It was leek, cauliflower, onion, seed milk, cream, cheese and pastry. Alex used every pan they had in the house which is quite impressive and sped up the cooking time. His creation was impressive and Leila took a nice portrait mode photo and then came back for seconds after. After dinner, they sat upstairs listening to a variety of podcasts (Trevor Noah, Table Manners with George Ezra and then No Such Thing as A Fish). Leila started feeling sleepy when the conversation turned to ants and creatures that vomit in each others’ mouths. She decided to go to bed.
