Day 43: Final Lecture

Leila woke up early and went for a walk around the graveyard and listened to FT news briefing, everyone was talking about Decivar (?), the potential vaccine which is super controversial. She’s really enjoying the morning walks as a way to start the day. When Leila comes back, Alex is usually up and running after a lounging morning in bed (his dream). Alex made coffee and was super loud, forcing Leila to retreat to the staircase to have her call with work. Alex spent a bit of time making a PowerPoint pres of his daily routine, and we found that we have a million more (Nice) photos of Alex than Leila. He interspersed this with doing work for his Togo presentation later that day. Leila was working through the morning and pushing back at Helen which was really good.

In the afternoon, Leila did a Pilates session upstairs while Alex continued working on Togo testing, he kept being distracted by playing football manager though and felt pretty bad about it. The internet gave out for Pilates halfway through which was super annoying for Leila. At 5pm (it’s so late by the time lectures happen), Alex had his forum call and retreated upstairs to the sitting room, it was nice and there was lots of singing, he felt pretty far away from everyone though, but I guess that’s normal given it’s the end of term. Leila meanwhile made rhubarb crumble downstairs, and had jumped out in the only break in the rain to go sneak into the vegetable garden. It was super good and healthy. Alex then had his final presentation for Togo but the internet gave out just as he was finishing his slides so he didn’t finish and missed the Q&A. He thinks it still went well though and it was a super nice project. It was also his final lecture of the year, now there’s only exams left.

Leila had started cooking some vegetables while she was working but really unlike her, she forgot about it whilst she was consumed in work and the veg burnt a bit. She tried to add loads of lemon to cover it, but it didn’t really work. She watched Chicas del Cable whilst Alex finished his lecture and they ate together at 9pm whilst chatting about what Alex should do with his World Bank internship this summer. Then Alex did a little more of his Togo project whilst Leila continued watching Chicas del Cable before they both went upstairs and listened to some slightly strange instrumental music. The moon was really big and bright and they could see it through the skylight in the attic, and Alex smelled like spring onions.
