Leila did a walk in the morning and called Iman about her wet laptop issues, and then talked to her mum about her mum wanting her to come home. She walked up to the graveyard and back and it was a super nice sunny day. Alex met her downstairs and Leila was in work mode with her massive screen, she made Alex coffee with a heart ready for when he came down. Leila took a break and they headed outside to write an early blog in the sun. Kay came out to put a cat poo bin in the garden and caught L with her arm around A, and L felt awkward, but A was busy taking cutsey photos of the two of them and feeling chuffed with himself.
After the break in the sun (which was really nice), L got back to work and someone had used the ongoing feedback tool to tell Leila that she was amazing and loved how she’s engaged in the data process redesign. Thoroughly deserved as she’s been working really hard on it, and engaged with new people all over the company (really hard compared to everyone else at GS). Alex went shopping to M&S (he struggled putting on gloves because he has MASSIVE HANDS). There were massive queues everywhere so it took him ages to gather the shopping list, as a treat on the way home (and to celebrate his first day out in 9 days) he bought himself a pizza which was tepid and ok (not as nice as the ones they made themselves) – Leila only liked the egg bit.
L chatted to her fam as she cooked lunch, she used the leftover leek and mushroom and made a salad per usual. A hung about upstairs and wrote part of his business case while watching the entire first season of Rick and Morty in the background. It was quite nice because he’s seen them so many times they fade into the background but still make him giggle. L went out and had a chat with Ruki, and passed an independent grocer and found the holy grail of kitchen stores, i.e., eggs and also picked up tonic water (for Alex’s G&Ts). L listened to some Spanish and headed home and carried on working hard. A called Hannah from Cambridge and had a really nice chat about feeling unattached to work and Cambridge people, she thinks in black and white logic with no space for fun, and it’s great. L finished at 7 and came upstairs and they watched never have I ever together – was a bit cringe, especially at the end, we’re not really into high school boyfriend dramas.
A convinced L to come and head outside with him to get beers because it was sunny (if very cold), it was a bit of a fail though as Sainsbury’s was busy and there was a super aggressive guy asking for money, so it wasn’t chill at all. They discussed Alex feeling distant on the way home, and Alex agreed. When they got home, A looked at his phone and realised his friends were having a birthday party for Sam, Olly and Amelia in 5 mins, and got keen to join. He put their evening plans on hold and thought that he could cook and chat, but he took way too long and left L by herself upstairs for an hour and half while he caught up with his home crew. By the time the food was cooked, L had been upstairs for ages and was super hungry and a bit hurt as A hadn’t noticed she was upset, they had dinner together but called it short and L headed up to bed to listen to music. A joined her shortly after and everything was fine again (no going to bed with hard feelings, ever). But L started thinking about how she was feeling in this lockdown for the first time; she hadn’t really dedicated headspace to this before. She misses her friends and fam who she hasn’t really seen since December. Her mind was racing and she started questioning everything. She didn’t fall asleep for a while.
