Leila got up early, Alex joined L quite early too because he didn’t play any games (as part of a self defined test of whether he could avoid them entirely for the day). L made a compote and then got a message from her sister Iman. Alex stayed in bed for a bit trying to write his first comment on Reddit (as his other test of whether he could do something creative each day), and then joined L downstairs and started playing around with the Covid Policy data. Also with generating an augmented reality duck, which made him really happy. L was less impressed when he called her down to look at it. L wasn’t in the mood to work after chat with sis and so she took it pretty easy for the day.
A had breakfast for the first time ever, a couple of slices of toast, but then had lunch (a oven-baked broccoli), which they sat outside to eat. Both Alex and Leila sat outside in the sun and chatted about happiness (and who was most intrinsically happy), it was super nice and relaxed. L went back to work for a bit while Alex made a Tableau, they listened to the UN Secretary General who was surprisingly open about the failures of the WHO and other multi lateral organisations in tackling the pandemic. Alex didn’t rate Goldman’s CEO either. They then continued working for a bit more and took their next break together to watch a few minutes of Never Have I Ever followed by 15 minutes of Chicas Del Cable. It was the start of season 3 and everything felt too good to be true. Alex bet Leila that it was all a dream, but it wasn’t. Then the church set on fire and lots of people died. After work finished around 6.30pm, Leila went for a walk in Regents Park and listened to 40 mins of Spanish. She then went to Lidl to get some supplies and queued outside. Meanwhile, Alex was happily sitting in the garden working on his Tableau dashboard and having a glass of wine. He joined a call with the professor and told them he’d done some work linking 2 datasets.
Leila started making an aubergine shakshuka when she got back and danced to Roxanne in the kitchen. They had a glass of wine whilst they ate it and L felt like it was the weekend again and was really chilled. Then they watched Cirq du Soleil online (Alex had never seen it before) and thought the set was impressive but didn’t really get the story / personally attached to the characters. They chatted a bit about how they would be a good team with Alex enjoying come up with a high level theme / idea and Leila designing and directing the implementation. Alex then suggested they head to bed and watch the rest of Cable Girls there, and Leila was supremely happy. Alex got annoyed by all the characters and ended the night by saying “It’s not even about the telephone company anymore!”
