Thursday was a while ago now, so things might be a little hazy. Alex woke up early as he knew he had his exam to finish but he also needed to prep for the World Bank call later in the day. He had ruminated, and realised he’d made a mistaken inclusion in the code throughout the paper, and changed it, as well as going back over his notes throughout and updating and improving. At 11am he had his call with the World Bank economists, it was a WebEx (blast from the past) and they didn’t turn on their webcams, which Alex thought was a bit strange and a little impersonal. His main contact Giorgia had just come back from maternity leave, and they went through what the role would involve and the final deliverable. It looks pretty stand-alone and like he can just research Myanmar datasets and be a little creative with his work, which is cool.
Leila went for a walk at lunch (otherwise she was working), listened to Spanish and got a really bad decaf espresso from along Camden high-street. It was her last day before the bank-holiday so she presumed it was super chill at work, but when she went to do Barre and Beats (her favourite Insta blogger, with a DJ in the background) Helen called her up partway through and she had to abandon – the workout had focussed on legs anyway so she wasn’t too upset. After Alex finished his exam (an hour before the deadline), he went for a run to primrose hill, and it was surprisingly busy but there was still space, he ran around the outside for maybe an hour and half, listening to Guardian Long Read and then joined L back at home for a sweaty selfie.
Alex cooked a gnocchi dinner while L showered, just before they went to eat, it was the 8pm clap, so they went out the front and Leila took lots of selfies with A, because he was wearing his big white fluffy jumper, but he wasn’t interested. They clapped, then went into the garden for a tomato, gnocchi, meatball bake which was surprisingly good and L went back for seconds.
We then sat upstairs, and L helped Alex go through his dData business plan that he was submitting the following evening. It was super super helpful and massively made it better, especially since a lot of it didn’t make sense.
