We woke up feeling pretty energised and Alex told Leila that he would do what she wants given she planned his birthday. She told him that all she wanted was him to take his glasses downstairs and to do the hoovering (which he always does on a Sunday) so essentially, nothing. He decided she wanted to go for a walk and get coffee so they set-off towards Saint Espresso (which had just re-opened 3 days earlier). Alex picked up the OFWs and Leila picked up hay fever nose spray. Alex chatted to the barista about Ikigai. On the way back, they went into a little garden they hadn’t been to before and spotted a house for sale that was a converted Church. L thought there might be a chance it was affordable, but no. It was £4.5mm. Nevertheless, it sparked her excitement about house hunting.
On return, they had a quick brunch made up of leftover potato cake and some of Bernard (sourdough) who was tasting fine on day 2 of existence. Then A joined D&D whilst L did some cleaning, Ismaili work, chatted to her family, did a barre class and did some house hunting. She also finished Never Have I Ever which was running in the background – she’s glad she didn’t focus all her attention on it. A’s game was good but a little chaotic and didn’t accomplish very much. He also did the hoovering at the same time and cleaned our top kitchen draw which had become full of junk. It now looks beautiful and L was v happy. After D&D, A joined L on the sofa and they continued looking at houses for a bit before watching the rest of Hitch. They finally finished it after starting 2 months earlier in NY.
At 7pm they tuned into Boris Johnson who was doing a broadcast to the nation about easing lockdown restrictions. Unfortunately, it was super unclear and although they changed the message from “Stay Home” to “Stay Alert,” not much changed in practice aside from some people who can’t work from home were asked to go back and we were told unlimited exercise (but still socially disant) was allowed. It was a confusing message and didn’t meet ours, nor most people’s, expectations. We had thought we might be able to move between close family. A felt a bit bad that his parents had come over the day before even though we were v happy and it was socially distant. L tried to convince him it was a good thing. She was a bit sad as she was hoping to go visit her family the following weekend but is now unsure. For dinner, L made cod that she had marinaded the day before and we ate potato cake, sourdough and some soy roasted aubergine on the side. A made himself a Tom Collins and L had some of the remaining sparkling water (=dream). A very chilled day but much needed after a busy Saturday.
