Leila had a super productive morning and was super happy when A came down. L went for a walk, did her 9-10 call, booked in 3 concerts and a tennis court, sent her family some Lina Stores food, and just felt great about her productive morning. A came down and made a coffee and L was literally glowing with happiness, she was also wearing nice clothes fora change. A worked on his Dev-102 project in the morn, while L had many calls; Leila prepped a sourdough starter for waffles in the evening. They worked in the day and Alex sat outside a bit, in the sun; he was going through ~40 articles about Myanmar data quality and reading and thinking about what is the real root cause of the quality problems. L had calls ALL afternoon back-to-back, until Alex had his last forum call of the year. Alex’s decided he wanted to go for a run during the call and spent ages trying to fix his headphones. The last call was really nice though with 4 of his professors answering questions such as ‘If you were 28 again what you prioritise’, ‘ What values do you think are important’ and ‘How do you ensure you keep up friendships’. Some of Alex’s fave responses were about development industry not having a good or bad side but requiring integrity, about being a skeptic not a pessimist, and finding something that you would want to wake up at 5am every day to do. His phone ran out of battery part way round Regent’s Park so he sprinted home to find the internet had gone, and so he burned through all his remaining data listening to the end of the call, when people were just saying how much they appreciated each other.
L hotspotted her way through her final calls before deciding to do a stretch class at 6.15pm because her body felt stiff. She then spoke to her dad to check in on her great uncle, who had been taken to hospital the night before with a UTI. She also spoke to Iman who wanted work advice and then to her grandma in Dar who has happily reading before bed, and told L that her great uncle’s condition had improved massively. She then showered and rushed so she could do the 8pm NHS clap with Alex. After that, A started doing some course evaluations whilst L watched 10mins of Cable Girls before coming downstairs to start on the sourdough spelt waffles. They turned out super nice and light and L was v happy. They paired them with fried eggs, kimchi and some vegan meatballs.
After dinner, they watched the remainder of Cable Girls where Uribe got shot and Dona Carmen was also about to be killed. So dramatic. Then they headed up to bed for a semi early night which turned out not to be that early because they played Heads Up in bed for a while. Turns out L is really bad with songs, but much better with random trivia and animals (surprisingly). A discovered that platypuses are not extinct and confused a wallaby with a koala. They also looked at sea cow pictures which L liked. Then they spent a while looking at all the pre-made iPhone videos and saw some nice ones from New York. After that, they chatted a lot about their thoughts on the restrictiveness of marriage.
