Alex woke up really early and came down with Leila to start work at around 8.30am. Leila felt like her routine of being alone in the morning had been interrupted, but she quite liked it. A made himself a coffee (it was too early for L pre 9am) and they settled into work. A spent a while figuring out how to put websites online using S3 buckets and Cloudfront and he also got Commons and Pleuston correctly running. L ploughed through work meanwhile and had her catch up with Helen. She then decided to call Anish at lunch and walk to Lidl to pick up some supplies including wine. A made a nice lunch of brown pasta, leeks and sausages. Kay and Tony told them they potentially had Elderflower growing in the garden but no one was sure. A sent a picture to his mum who confirmed straight away.
After lunch, A was super focused but took a break to watch Rick and Morty – 2 new episodes he hadnt seen before, but weren’t that good. L finished work and then went out to read The Three Body Problem in the garden, but found Katy and Kay there who had just watered some of the plants. She offered to water the remaining plants with Kay and used the outdoor tap for the first time which resulted in water all over the patio and her. They chatted about Iraq for a while (one of the neighbours is from there) and then Kay gave her a little Wallflower plant she had been growing in an Oatly carton. It was a really nice 30min way to relax after work. A was still working indoors, and it was the one day he didnt have a chat with friends or anything to break up his afternoon. L tuned into The Infatuation’s quiz night. She was really bad and hadnt seen a single one of the 6 movies they asked questions about in the first round. A was much better. We both had a Muswell Hillbilly Beer together and then L started making dinner – baked tofu, chilli brussels, mushrooms, rice and a soy ginger chilli glaze.
They went upstairs to eat just in time for Scouting For Girls to start their live show. It was quite cute and much better than The Killers (i.e. they actually played some music and were chatting). After SFG, Alex offered up a patch of hair on his legs for L to wax so he could understand the pain. It was quite a fleshy bit of leg so L thought he wouldnt feel any pain at all (it’s the least painful part, for sure) but he was very dramatic and thought it hurt quite a lot. L told him to imagine the pain of waxing on other parts of the body. They then watched KT Tunstall’s old live set and she was really good. Then they headed to bed.
