L woke up early having not slept that well…. again. She started reading her sci fi book quietly downstairs which was peaceful. A had a little lie in and came down feeling fresh at 10.30am. They got dressed and headed for their usual Sunday walk – Korean supermarket, Greek pastry place, Wholefoods for papaya, and Coffee Jar. A bought 2 pastries including his fave ingredients – pastry, potato, cheese, spinach. They saw a cute baby and cool mum wearing Veja’s. This became a theme, and as they walked through the park, they spotted tonnes of cute babies and families. They found a spot to sit down, half in the shade for A because his eyes were being weird and half in the for L. Sadly, there were 2 pigeons encircling and they did not leave despite multiple air kicks by A who was trying to protect L. Lots of passers by were confused and looked slightly anxious watching him get angry at the poor pigeons. They lost the battle, and moved a little further away and watched a couple do some martial arts. L decided she wouldn’t mind living in Berlin for a bit. A was confused.
Then they headed to the rose garden, and L was amazed she hadn’t been there before. It was beaut and really relaxing (also there were lots more cute kids and L wished she was 7 again). They sat on the bench for a bit before walking back the long way through the park. Luckily, D&D was slightly delayed so they could walk back together.
A logged on to D&D and did a very long but unsuccessful heist, whilst L made herself lunch and watched a little TV and read some articles. She did a 15min workout because she was feeling lazy and then showered before her JFR call which her parents were running. Everyone talked about a book or article they were reading/enjoyed and then something that was making them happy. A watched for a little bit which made L v happy. It went on for a long time though and L didn’t have long before her next Zoom call, but she made a (sour) rhubarb crumble in that time. She then joined a discussion on race and faith led by Ismaili Institutions in Canada and US which started badly but ended up being much more honest and practical than she thought. Meanwhile, A cooked a prawn thai green curry and called Hannah.
The thai green curry was yummy and served with a nice Lidl red wine. L had tried to convince A to not cook and instead order Deliveroo as she was craving a thai green curry, but weirdly without even knowing that, A decided to make one. It hit the spot. Then they spent ages looking for hotels/pubs with rooms that would be open in July for a little holiday and solicited advice from Alex’s mum who was really helpful. They chatted for a while and L emailed quite a few B&Bs to check if they’d be opening. Then A suggested playing Rummy. L taught him her rules, and complained about how slow he was. Then he proceeded to beat her 2/3 games. They headed to bed and A told L a story about Myanmar and L fell asleep quickly.
