Day 86: Purezza

Finally Friday. Leila woke up excited to end the week, but knowing she had a lot of work ahead of her that day. She thought about the Pizza at the end of the day and got going. She chatted to HR about her Diversity session and spent a lot of the day organizing it, chatting to the speakers and trying to figure out how to get other sessions organized by the next week for other teams, on request from her Partner. She was a little frustrated about the amount of time it was taking and the amount of requests coming in for her to organize sessions on behalf of lots of people she didn’t know. She felt bad because she really wanted to organize these sessions and didn’t mind spending extra time on it, but she felt like it was being over engineered and was becoming more of a chore now. Nevertheless, her manager was on the same page as her and recognized the work she was doing and that made her happy. Alex spent a lot of the day on his literature review which was due later that evening. He also joined a call with some of the HKS staff and they made it seem like deferring was a better option and that classes might not actually be in person, even in Spring. It made him a little more confused about what he should do. After the lit review was sent and work finished around 8pm, they chatted about deferral and options for Alex’s potential year off as they walked to Purezza to pick up their vegan pizzas. They came back, ate the Pizza with a tiny bit of super sweet champagne that they had got from their neighbours, and then Alex headed upstairs to chat to Cam and Dave. Meanwhile, Leila did some reading and then cheekily watched a bit of One Tree Hill without Alex. They both then did some reading in bed, but Leila didn’t last long before falling asleep. Alex started reading his book about Burma and a Swedish journalist who was covering the rebels living there in 1984. He really enjoyed it but wasn’t feeling tired and at 2.30am still wasn’t asleep. Leila woke up and decided they should both move upstairs to the loft and she was convinced Alex would fall asleep straightaway, which he did. 🙂
