It’s Saturday and Leila is heading home really early in the morning (to get there for a 10am brunch). A hadn’t slept much as he’d spent until 2am reading his book ‘Land of Jade’ which told the story of a journalist making his way to report on the Kachin rebels in Burma. They wanted to get coffee early in the morning so they got out of bed (slowly), got quickly changed, and headed to hidden coffee by car in order to pick one up on the way to Barnet. They jumped out of the car and picked up 2 OFW as per usual, then wandered over to the ‘EAST’ park just around the corner. They sat and chatted, and A told L all about his book and the history of Myanmar.
Leila then headed home and when she arrived brunch was already prepared by Liyana and Iman – sweet corn fritters, poached eggs, guacamole. It was yummy and they had the best strawberries she’d had all year. Then they gave dad his presents which he really enjoyed, especially the short sleeved shirts and 0% alcohol craft beer. They then headed on a drive to Virginia Waters and walked around the lake for 2 hours chatting in the sun. They learnt how to survive without toilets. They ended the walk with a soft serve ice cream and sat in the sun and Leila felt super chilled and as if she was on holiday.
A cycled over to see Umar, he’d been told they’d meet at 1.30 but apparently all the other boys pulled out. Instead A agreed with Umar to meet him at his flat near Upton Park. He cycled over but alas! He found that the boris bike range ran out at Olympic park, so he ran / walked the rest of the way on foot. It was actually quite nice, and he found the ‘Green Way’ a high road that led nearly all the way to Umar’s. When there he chilled and they chatted. Zephy was already there, and then Sam W joined later. Eventually they ended up playing pandemic and chilling, before heading the long way home (another 2.5 hour run/cycle home!).
In the eve, A got some chips on the way home then they had super nice leftovers from L’s family, in particular this super tasty potato like vegetable and some cheesecake from Liyana. Both were super good and they sat upstairs and ate food before retiring to sleep totally exhausted from the day.
