Leila started work early and had a really productive day, possibly because she’d had the day off the day before. A came down and they had coffee, they worked until 11 when they wrote the blog on the table outside, it was still super sunny and hot. L smashed through her work while A initially re-lived the Chelsea victory over Man City and listened to the Guardian Football Weekly which he found super funny. They worked until almost 7 when A was trying to hurry L up so they could start the 100 day celebrations.
A had gone out to Coal Drops Yard and searched out a flower stall and selected some roses and lillies to bring back for L. They celebrated with a couple of glasses of chilled white wine, some sad Ludovico in the background and dressing up in their fancy clothes. A had also stopped by Hoppers and confirmed that they could eat there if they ordered initially online to click and collect. They had a search through the menu and decided on the veggie tasting menu for 2, and spent 30-40 minutes going through the very first photos of their lockdown and remembering all the things that they’ve done – they’ve done a lot. Highlights of the photos were: We’ve eaten like kings and queens, how quickly we’ve got into our routine (coffee and dinner on the table) and how 100 days later, we’re still doing the same things.
They headed out to hoppers and A waited for a table while L looked into CDY, they eventually got one and had their first restaurant experience in a while (despite it technically being take-away). They brought their own cutlery and L was thankful but it had the same vibe as eating out – they even had wooden plates and got tap water. The sun was setting so L looked super golden. They ate a mushroom and jackfruit kottu (stir fry with roti), string hoppers (basically just noodles), plain roti, aubergine kari, dhal, and some pickles. They chatted about their favourite days over the 100 but L couldn’t really pinpoint just one.
After their meal, which was super good, they walked around CDY and it was crazy busy with lots of young people (probably our age, but we felt old) drinking and listening to music on the steps. They went a back route round the new buildings and then headed home.
When they got back, they headed upstairs and L immediately got changed into comfier clothing and they settled down onto the couch, put the candle on and listened to some of The National gig that they had been to together. They re-chilled the prosecco and re-started the 36 questions game that they’d done many moons ago. They then listened to Mumford & Sons, which was super nice and just lay together on the couch and chatted. It’s been 100 days and they still happily chatter away.
