Saturday 11th July
We woke up in Norfolk, happily rested on the large double bed, we had decided to head into Wells for coffee and A kept encouraging L to put on a optimistic swimsuit to no avail. They had hoped to take the mini-train into town, but upon leaving ran into one of Uncle P’s friends who told them that the train was only doing round trips and didn’t stop in Wighton Instead they headed to Wells by car, and because it was busy, parked in their little side-alley they’d planned the day before. They found a litte side street that took them to the green A used to go to when he was small with the Crown pub. They then went to Wells Deli for coffee, follwedd by Ground (a new one) for a second try. A preferred the former, L the latter so it worked out well. For lunch they wandered down to the beach and A bought them some Crab, which they ate from the shell and a few Welks (pictured below). The former were delicious and even L enjoyed it, the latter were Welks. They had a little wander around after and watched kids crabbing on the dock.
They needed a nice loo so stopped off at the Hoste in Burnham market and almost bought a drink but instead just used the loo (not pictured). They then went to Burnham Overy and went on what A thought was just a long walk along the flats. Instead, after an hour, they ended up on the beach and just chilled there for an hour or so before they had to head back to the Hero pub for a half-pint and some sparkling water. They then headed back Wighton way. While in the car they listened to the FT discuss Rishi Sunak’s budget.
They saw signs for raw milk on the way home and were eager to try it, they would go 20 mins between signs, almost give up hope only for it to be restored by the next. Eventually they found their Grail, in a Raw milk self-service vending machine, where they bought some milk and an ice cream. When they got home, they chilled and watched Peaky Blinders, and ate fruit and the ice cream. For the eve, they decided to have one quick venture out to the church, and went a little further to watch the sunset in a field.
A lovely day in Norfolk
