Day 130: Lime-ing to Highgate

L had a date with some school friends in Highgate, and they quickly realised there was no possibility to walk (SO FAR AWAY) or Boris Bike there (he’s not only a London PM, he’s a central London PM) so they headed to the cold, frozen wasteland that is the North of London by Lime bike. They downloaded the app and put £10 on each and set off on a experimental mission to try e-biking. As they neared their targets, L convinced A that they should spread out and conquer separate bikes rather than heading for a conveniently parked duo. Despite several attempts by L, her bike turned out to not work so had to call over A who also confirmed it wasn’t her, it was defo the bike, so after about 5 mins they were on their way up north.

The cycle was super nice, added excitement by the unpredictable nature of the ‘boost’ given by the Lime bikes which consistently caught them off guard and nearly sent L careering into A on several occasions. They got to the coffee shop they were aiming for (after a recommendation by Roslyn) and got a couple of OFWs with a pea and mayo bap that was unbelievably delicious. They sat outside and appreciated the mini-banter the coffee shop owners seemed to have with everyone around.

They headed Westwards to drop A off at Hampstead museum cafe and had a nice explore led by L into the Hampstead Heath crossing almost directly across the park which resulted in A having to vault a childhood playground on L’s direction suggestion. When they got the cafe it was super lovely, getting another coffee and a ‘too sweet for Leila but bitter to anyone else’ homemade pink lemonade. They sat outside and A wrote his application while L went off for a walk and to chat to her parents about the Aga Kahn Foundation work that they had recommended.

It proceeded to chuck it down and L was forced to cancel her meeting with friends, A huddled inside while L did her walk, he was pretty productive but not as much as L who managed to spend over £120 on second hand goodies which she showed off when she returned. They had a mini-explore of Hampstead high-street because they missed the bus home, A picked up some home goods as well as a sausage roll (well sourced, don’t @ me), he also had a rogue chat about football with some guy on the bus who was a bit weird. All the teams were playing so he jumped straight on his laptop when they got home to watch the rest of the Chelsea game – they won 2-0 and got Champions League football (This was huge and not necessarily expected). He then had a quick chat with the Boston crew and they had a nice chill time afterwards upstairs where they read through L’s objectives for 2020 as she wrote on New Year’s eve 8 months ago. They reckon she’s done pretty well all things considered.
