Thursday
L woke up early again as she had loads of stuff to do, and headed off to Granger and Co while A was still in bed to get an early morning coffee. It was basically a fire outside and L was sitting in the sun. A came to join her but immediately had to move because in a few moments his skinny black jeans were a sludge of burning material. L was spending her time covering other people when she should have been working on her diversity stuff. They chatted a bit about finances and how they think about money differently. A was doing a bunch of dData and trying to solve how to bring in daily data in order that he could actually do the nowcasting he promised. They settled into a thankfully shady Notes, and ordered (all digitally) a Flat White and matcha latte, which L loved. They sat there for a bit until L had to head back and A ran out of battery because he forgot to charge his stuff like an idiot.
L presented her Diversity action plan to Sarah who was super engaged and let the call overrun by 15mins. She was happy but felt like they had a lot to do, and had also just found out that the other analyst was going to be out of office so L had even more to do. In the evening, L decided to make gnocchi for dinner and spent a while reading reviews about the gnocchi brand she’d bought from Waitrose. She concluded that pan frying then baking was the right option so as not to end up with soggy gnocchi. She made it with love, and lots of veggies and spices. She was super happy to minimise washing up by putting the frying pan straight into the oven, but sadly after taking it out the oven using a glove, she then forgot it was 200 degrees and clasped the handle. Then she spent 20 minutes running it under cold water and felt lucky that it was her left hand. Then they sat outside eating the gnocchi which was yummy with L’s hand on some frozen peas. They headed to bed and L was in a lot of pain and couldn’t take her hand off the cold peas. A spent a while googling how to ease the pain and in the end got her some Savlon and put on Nigella to distract her in bed. It worked and she managed to fall asleep after a while despite the pain.
