Day 139: Daal solves everything

L had worked through the night and slept only a tiny bit. She woke up and got straight to the desk to focus on her Diversity presentation to the entire Risk & Resources org. Work was super busy and she had less time to focus on it than she would’ve liked, but it went well. A came down around midday and L sent him upstairs almost immediately (after allowing him a coffee) whilst she did her presentation. She then continued through an afternoon of entirely back-to-back calls and was exhausted but running on adrenaline. A was having a day of no coding having just finished a mammoth few days of R, and did some admin as well as doing some tidying and watering. He went out to the shops and came back with some exciting ingredients for a dinner that L would (and did) love. L chatted to Elena from CPG for 30 minutes and she gave her life advice, and L really appreciated it. At about 7pm L finished work and decided she should go for a walk for some fresh air. She chatted to her mum on the phone and then listened to chilled music as she walked and found herself all the way in Kentish town. She went to Sainsburys to pick up spring onions for A’s dinner and also got some of her fave peanut butter and a croissant for A just for fun. She arrived back to a beautiful meal of sweet potato daal with spring onions, and it was just what she wanted. They ate it upstairs with one glass of red wine each and some music in the background and L was happy that the end of her crazy busy and tired day was spent with A relaxing. They wound down together and tried to watch How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days but L knew that A was hating it a little it so they switched to Friends before heading up to bed early, sleeping later than expected, but L dropped off quickly. A spent a while thinking about being away from Boston over the next year.
