Day 141-145: 4 whole days apart

Leila:

She started working at normal time, and A joined her for a little. He was packed and ready to go. She forced him to eat, and said bye around 11 as he left for the Lake District, saying a quick hello to Sam and Ali. She then worked non stop through the day, and tried to handle the evolving Intern crisis before the final day of the internship, the next day. She finished at 7pm, did a quick clean, and headed to Stanmore to Rhiannon’s house where they sat outside and ate pizza and drunk beer. It was so nice to see Abi, Rhiannon, Nic, Ruki and Hannah and they spent ages chatting about life and L realised how much she had missed her school friends and how similar they are. The only downside was the 5 mosquito bites she got that evening.

Alex:

A really enjoyed his car ride off to the Lake District, the journey was full of banging tunes and good chat. They played the Ali list and were happily chatting about the world and politics. They stopped en route to the Lakes at a basic services because A had a quick World Bank call which he reeled off with a greg’s pasty next to him. When they got to the lakes, they kept chatting, explored the house and set up a fire and waited for the Leightonstone boys to turn up just past midnight. It was a super nice day and A really enjoyed the time chatting with old friends.

On Friday, she ploughed through work from Barnet in the dining room and had a really nice office set-up. Again, more intern work but she found an intern she really liked and was happy about it. She also chatted to Halima again which didn’t go that well, but spoke to Laura who told her exciting news about Launch with GS. She took a work break at 5pm to go for a walk with Nicky in the woods which was lovely, and then came back to finish off work. It was 35 degrees and she was sweating like a crazy person. Mia came to cut her hair at 7pm and they did it in the hallway. L only got 2 inches off which was probably too little, and she knew A wouldn’t even notice it had been done. She ate dinner with mum, dad, Liyana and Karim – mum had made some nice veggie indian curries.

On Saturday, L and Liyana went to Potters Pantry for coffee for the first time since it re-opened after lockdown. They sat outside and melted in 35 degree heat again but had a nice coffee and chat with the owners. Then they came back and sat in the garden chatting to mum for a bit, before heading to Muswell Hill. Mum and L walked around the high street for a while and in and out of charity shops (L got 2 dresses from Oxfam), and then went to Muswelll Hillbilly Brewery and L introduced mum to Kombucha. They then went to drop birthday gifts to Rehema who was super happy to see them and was overjoyed to hear that L had a boyfriend (!). L then went on a 1 hour walk with her dad in the woods and they chatted about buying houses, relationships and sleep. They ate dinner together and then started watching Knives Out, but were all falling asleep by 11pm so gave up. Liyana came home and ate loads of cheese. Then L chatted to A via WhatsApp call which was v happy and she was excited to hear about his day.

On Sunday morning, the family cleaned the house together and prepared food for the BBQ later on. L ended up having to work for a few hours but finished before the cousins arrived at lunch time. Iman also arrived by this point and they had a lovely BBQ outside of biryani, kebabs, BBQ sweetcorn, bhel and salad. L was super happy to see Naima, Jiten and Areef and she had a nice chat with Areef about careers. After eating too much food, they went on a walk in the woods together and L got some time to chat to Naima alone which was great. She really missed her and appreciated the life advice. They came back and had dessert of cheesecake, watermelon and berries before Iman got stung by a wasp. They left at 8pm and everyone was tired. L was looking at houses and found a maisonette she loved in Chiswick.

On Monday, L called the estate agent straight away but sadly the maisonette already had an offer on it. Iman and L went to Bluebelle’s and had £1.50 coffee because of EOTHO. They worked outside for an hour, but it was really hot again. L carried on working at home and worked as hard as she could, and also did some Ismaili work, so she could be free for the evening because A was coming back. She managed to finish everything off by 7.30, then had a chat with mum about life, dinner with the family (she didn’t eat) and headed back to Kings Cross (via Bolt because of Thameslink cancellations). On arriving she went outside to sit with A and they ate bhel she had brought from home and caught up on the past few days. They continued talking from 8.30 to past midnight, and she was happy to be back.

A lovely weekend with family where L felt like she was on holiday.
