Day 146: ADB, Poke & Heat

Another 35 degree day in London. L woke up and dreaded the thought of working in the hot kitchen. She waited for A to wake up before suggesting they head to Caravan to work in the back bit he likes, where there is AC. A had just found out that he had won the ADB challenge (WAHOO) and that included USD 10k plus the chance to work with them informally to implement.

They worked in Caravan for a few hours having coffees and juice. L spent the morning doing a million things (not all work related) and her brain was moving fast between different topics. She did some reading on agritech and reached out to some friends about it. A was thinking about houses in Oxford and did some work in Caravan too. They then went to Waitrose and bought lots of nice things, including 89p mackerel which A was super excited for. He grilled it when they got back and they ate it with salad and Vogel’s bread outside. They both worked thru the afternoon. L’s work got busier, but she’d also had a chilled morning so it was fine. A chatted to Roukaya in the evening and L headed to her laser patch test near Monument. Her appointment lasted about 5 minutes and she then met A in Bloomberg Arcade for dinner. He had cycled a crazy long route around Shoreditch.

She had ordered 2 glasses or Riesling from Etke ready for his arrival and wanted to celebrate his ADB win, but also felt a little bit all over the place with life plans. They chatted for a while about it and A mentioned how good it is that L can talk to him about these things, which it really is (and much appreciated). After the glass of wine, they headed to Ahi Poke for some 50% off bowls and A ordered one with 3 sauces whilst L’s only had 1. They sat outside and then went on a long walk back home, going via GS and then Clerkenwell. They walked thru Exmouth Market which was lively and decorated with fairy lights and decided to stop at a Mikeller brewery for a pint. They then headed home and chatted about the power of communities and personal statements on the way back, arriving back quite late, and chatted more in bed. L couldn’t fall asleep for a while because it was so hot and she ended up sleeping sideways at the end of the bed so she could be closer to the fan!
