June Summary

Boys & Girls days out

The boys and girls of their crew in Toronto had organised separate events: The boys were going to an Argonauts rugby game and the girls were going to Toronto Beach Club. Before the evening kicked off, they went to Stakt and had a gin and tonic in the sun, L was loving it. The boys event was super chill, they sat in a uni park and had brought a 6-pack of beers each. They had sushi just outside and smuggled some beers in. Was a really nice time hanging out with Paddy & Harry while watching not the best quality of rugby game. L had really nice chats with the girls about life, engagements and career focus

Midtown & Nani

In the morning they went Nebulu coffee and Alex read ‘shooting an elephant’ and they explored a Flagel place and Summerhill market. Was a super nice explore & coffee. They decided (slightly last minute) that they’d be able to go to Rihana’s and Scott’s house for Scotts birthday and spent the afternoon playing badminton with the kids. In the eve they had a date with Nani and went to the Aga Kahn centre and looked at Prince Rahim’s diving and ecological pics

NYC

Leila went to NYC for 3 days for an Affordability offsite. She stayed in the Royalton Park hotel which was actually quite nice. She spent most of the time indoors because the air quality was so bad they couldn’t breathe properly outside due to Canadian wildfires. The sky was yellow. She hung out with the team in the office then they went to Wagamamas and then K-town for Karaoke where Danny (analytics) came out of his shell to sing. It was actually quite fun. She flew back on Friday morning and they went straight to Ajax in the evening…

The Trace at Oak Lake

They went to Aminas to borrow the car and drove about 1.5 hours to The Trace resort where they had a cabin by the lake. It was a self catered cabin so they brought groceries and poke! On the first night since it was late they ate poke then went to bed. The next morning L did yoga by the lake and then they went swimming together. L loved it and she swam around in a circle in the sun for 45 mins whilst A got out to read. They were so lucky because it had been raining the whole day before and it was going to rain the next day. Then they made a big breakfast of eggs and bagels and went on a Kayak around the lake. In the afternoon, they sat reading by the lake for ages in the sun and then A watched the champions league final. They also played table tennis, golf ball swing game and cornhole. In the evening they had a BBQ where A made sausages, veg and potatoes. It was lovely. The next morning they headed back and for a hike but there was lots of bugs so they were mildly nervous the whole time. They then went home and did admin and chilled on Sunday night.

Other things

They went to Rasa in the Annex for dinner on Weds for a date.It was great. I loved the tuna ceviche thing. A had values day on Friday at work and L went to hang out at the party in the evening where they had music, food stalls and drinks. It was a very chilled vibe and L expected it to be more formal but she pleasantly surprised by Mckinsey. Alex also had Steve over to Toronto to formally kick off deal scan. They went to Emmer and A had the best tuna melt EVER. They talked about wedding venues and L got stressed and they stopped talking about it. Then they met Amina, Alim, Mysha, Imran, Rehana and family at the indigenous arts festival and then went to Stackt. It was very chill but very hot. A then set off to London for Glastonbury!

L’s 2 weeks without A

L went into the office most days since she was home alone. On the weekend, she saw Tamara, Will, Paddy and their friends and they went for beers followed by Civil Liberties for cocktails and vietnamese food followed by another bar for sunset. It was very chilled. She also saw Nuriayah and Nani that weekend and was really enjoying reading Kyland. The next week she got put onto a stressful new project called MIC which was to do with batching orders and lowering fees in a sub scale market and it meant she couldn’t really go to Collision tech festival, but she did go for one morning and her the aws ceo speak amongst others. She had a 9 hour long zoom call with SF to start the project on Wednesday. She went out for Tacos with Julie Anne on Friday night and a bird pooed on JA’s face! On Saturday she had a Leila day of going to 915 Dupont Street for coffee and tried their new oat milk, then SummerHill market then Annex then Sue Fungs Dim Sum. She spent the afternoon patiently waiting for A to come back from London but his flight was SUPER delayed

A’s 2 weeks without Leila — GLASTONBURY

Alex got back to the UK in time for Father’s day UK. He’d organised with Misha that they’d go to hers in Hampstead and they had dinner and wine with Masha, Misha made an amazing Prawn Lasagna. Alex was working Monday & Tuesday from the office / home and gathered 9 tents to take to glasto in exchange for his bag. He set off at 6-am with Ali but when they found Jamie, they were de-railed by their train being full. They ended up doing a roundabout route via Yeovil – it was actually much more chill.
First two days were really chill, highlights were: hanging out with Ali Jamie & Dave and getting a tour of the woodworking, finding the Burmese tea shop and buying a suit. During the music, Alex loved: The pirate band in a little tent, calling L and Will from Fred Again and Louie Carner, chilling at beans on toast, seeing Cat Stevens and many many more!
Was exhausted by the end, but A had spent loads of time with Ali which was nice.

The week after A saw a bunch of friends in the London office including Jeremy Palmer & Ellie Drabble. He also had his first interview and photo taken outside no. 10 downing street.
