Day 78: Overload

Thursday, we were having quite an overloaded day, Leil hadn’t slept Well in the night again And they had loads of work too do. The protests had only increased and Alex had heard the previous day that all his lectures were to be 100% virtual for the fall. Leila didn’t eat breakfast and then had a catch up with Helen in the morn. Before her town hall at 12.30, they sat in the garden and discussed Alex feeling a bit overloaded and Leila tried to help. The town hall was more emotional and better than she expected, it was the first time she’s seen her partner act like a human. After this, she has another 1 hour form town hall, the most impactful thing coming out of this was an MD describing the difference between the us and the uk as death by shooting versus death by 1000 cuts (micro-aggressions). During the later call Alex headed to Regents Park in order to have a chill. He walked to the rose garden and then settled into the Zen garden and did a bit of drawing. He did a little work before chatting to Ana from Harvard for an hour and heading Home. They discussed her unfiltered presentation, family and country. After the town hall Leila had a team call where they talked about racism again, she then had another couple of calls and had to turn down visiting Alex in the park. She felt quite overloaded with emotions, empathy and work. When A got back he had his call with HKS about possibly deferring the fall semester / year. He’s much more uncertain than he was before, and doesn’t know What he will be doing. He started making a pie while L showered, he thought it was non dairy but it wasn’t, it was butter milk. A told L his favourite joke in the world. L anticipated that she wouldn’t find it funny, but it was actually even less funny than she thought but A had a cute smile on his face (see below). They ate the pie and chatted, and discussed where their evenings go, and decided that it’s probably the 3 hour chat sessions they have every evening. They then went to bed and chatted for another couple of hours.
