Leila headed down first and Hadn’t slept again, she’d had a dream about racism in Instagram form, it sounded super intense. She made coffee and started work while A changed. At 9.50, Liyana arrived having dropped her car. She was wearing 2 sets of clothes so that she could change out when she got to George. Leil made her a coffee and then joined another firm wide black network discussion while Alex talked to her in the garden about life and dentistry. Liyana has to head at 10.30 and A got down to work opposite her. L forgot to have breakfast and was super hungry all day while A made rice and snacked throughout. A had a really long call with the IT help desk of the world bank and got increasingly annoyed at how badly it was done. In the end, he managed it though, and it was Leila’s second favourite moment of the day watching him get really frustrated and make quiet annoyed comments whilst on the phone. L was pretty tired all day but ended up being able to focus quite well on work. A was a bit worried because she looked like a zombie and had zone out of life. At 7pm she finished work and he convinced her to go outside for a walk, even though she really didn’t feel like doing anything. She went, wearing a full grey tracksuit (gross) and they took 2 tiny glasses of red wine. They headed to their usual Friday night spot by the gas towers and had the wine. This was L’s fave moment of the way. On return, L washed her hair and prepared the Ethiopian food – an aubergine curry with berbere (new spice she hadn’t cooked with before), kale and cabbage dish and mum’s “barazi” curry served with injera from the Turkish store.
