A&L woke up early and L headed down while A took his time to get ready. He had a call with the World Bank scheduled early for 10am. He prepared a little while L got on with some of her usual work and sat outside with a cup of coffee. Unfortunately the call wasn’t great, despite the outcome being that he moved more towards his preferred role of investigating data availability. After the call, he had a little moan to L and then he went in for a nice lunch break where he cooked some falafel and more hash browns (as well as some Cauliflower).
In the afternoon, L had a call with M & H and it wasn’t the outcome she wanted, resulting in them both going for a walk to get themselves a decaf coffee in the afternoon. They went El&N in Kings Cross which had just opened, it was so recent that they got a free tote bag with their purchase as they were in the first 50 customers. They went back the long way round through CDY and stopped by Jigsaw. When they got back they went into work, L’s stuff didn’t get resolved, but A had a surprise call with Hannah and Sam, and they all agreed that they were likely to take LOAs, which was super positive for A. He then had a call with Clare from QB and she suggested that he return to the role he was doing before he left to Harvard. L had a shower, then A came down to sit behind her while she worked. At 1800 L jumped onto her afternoon call while A went upstairs to watch the Chelsea Crystal Palace first half. After the call L came up and joined A and they discussed whether L should head home to Barnet or chill in the house for the eve. She was feeling like being around fam would be good so packed her bags while A made a quick pasta with mushrooms for them to snack on.
At 1930 L headed home to Barnet and A headed off to see Angus and Anahita in Mayfair (Cam couldn’t get there) and it was super nice catching up with them both, Anahita is working at another fashion company and Angus at a Softbank backed tech startup. After a bit in the rain and when they were kicked out of the park, they headed over to a very nervous pub where they sat outside and had a socially distant pint. As L’s house was on the way back for Angus, he joined A for a late night drink before heading back to Angel. A then watched the football and went to bed alone for the first time in nearly 3 months. Meanwhile, L headed to Barnet on the Thameslink and was once again grateful for the train ride where she immediately felt better and read her book. At home they ate a coconut chickpea sweet potato curry with salad and rice that Liyana had made, and the family sat round the table for 3hours and updated on their lives. It felt like they had been waiting for L to come home to do that. Iman talked about moving out and her 8 grad scheme placements, Liyana about moving to Cardiff (which she is feeling better about), Mum about Maa moving in and her website, Dad just about random things. They planned to go to Wales on holiday in August for a few days and to check out Cardiff on the way. They had a quick berry break (L was excited and overate) and carried on chatting. It was nice and comfortable, but L was also quite tired by this point. At 10.30 they all went upstairs and L read for a bit in bed and thought about how weird it felt to not be with Alex. She spent a while reading as she didn’t feel tired, and then started thinking about how nice it would be to have A around for the next year.
