Day 1, Sunday 03/07/2022:
Alex had a LONG flight to come see Leil in Montreal (he flew over greenland, pictured). He was meant to arrive at 2.15pm but it was more like 5.30pm by the time he got to her aunty’s house. His flight took off an hour later than planned and when he got in they had to be transferred from the domestic to international terminal. He then sat for 1.5 hours in the work permit office (esssentially a waiting pen for anyone who needed extra security), waiting for his docs to be assessed.

When A arrived, he first kissed L, with a little bit of love, then he said, ‘I think I might have COVID’, so he took a test. It had developed on the plane and despite him having taken a negative test the day before (Saturday). It could not have been worse timing. He came inside, took the test and it was positive within seconds. He guesses this is technically day 2 of symptoms because he’d been tired but not coughing or feverish the day before, not enough to warn him of the impending positive result.
Leila called her mum and decided whether to isolate away from each other or not. They spend the whole day then discussing whether it was the right decision or not. Leila didn’t want to hug Alex and was sad about the plans and Vyoma. Vyoma had planned to stay the following week but it was now unsure because Alex was positive and we didn’t want to risk giving it to her.

Leila wanted to keep discussing, but they weren’t sure how to get to any conclusion. Leila didn’t want Alex to go to sleep. She insisted at around 11pm (it was 4am in the morning for Alex) that they put the Ludovico tickets on StubHub, so Alex set up his account to sell them. Eventually they did agree to sell them though and Alex sweated and coughed through the night.
Day 2, Monday 04/07/2022 (Day 3 of symptoms? and US independence day)
Leila woke up and wanted to make the most of the day. Alex made breakfast, an eggs breakfast and Leila went for coffee by the canal where they had oatly. Then she walked by the canal and through green parks to Arthur’s which is a middle easter n and Jewish brunch place. She waited 45 minutes to have brunch by herself. After the beautiful brunch she took the train to old Montreal, and saw the a set of climbing man gold-ish statues in an art gallery. it made her feel like she should ‘keep climbing’ and she called Alex so that they could agree to buy one. It took a while to agree with of the men she should buy. As she was walking through Old Montreal, she found someone playing Ludovico on piano just randomly in the park. She sat on the floor and cried whilst listening. Leila felt like it was fate that because she didn’t go to the concert that she stumbled upon a man who played the full album.

Meanwhile whilst Leila was going out. Alex sat inside and recovered. he made himself a hearty breakfast of toast, mushrooms, cheese and salad as well as several portions of potatoes. He then sat on the porch for a bit before sitting and completing more of his onboarding documents for his new role at McK whilst watching the cricket highlights. About halfway through the day he received his McK contract and he spent he rest of his time checking through it and had a call with the compensation officer confirming all the details.

Leila went to Mile End and fairmount bagels and she really like the area and how green montreal was. then she went to Yoni falafel to buy dinner and then carried it an hour home on the subway and spilled it all over her dress. When she got back they tried the bagel, they actually liked the sesame the most. They had a date of the falafel dinner on the terrace listening to a bit of ludovico. They came back inside and Alex had a bath and they had their turmerics whilst trying to watch this is us. They couldn’t find it on the tv though so they finished their turmeric and went downstairs to watch it on the iPad. They cuddled up and went to sleep (Alex was quite a sweaty mess but less so).
