Thursday
In the morn, Alex was free of his 5 days so he went to get coffee. He was meant to have a call but it was cancelled so he was on code duty.
Alex started work on Thursday so had to join a bunch of zooms all morning. He didn’t have his laptop yet so it was all pretty odd. He set off in the afternoon after he got a notification of delivery and went to the mck office. It was swish and at the top of a big block with great views. He chatted to Liz and then went to explore McGil.
After Alex got his laptop we was kinda stressed because he had so many things to do. His email never went off line so he has infinite many emails. Leil made him lunch though which was nice.
Meanwhile Leila was barely working as her head still hurt. But she joined some calls and washed her hair which was an achievement,
For dinner they made potatoes, burgers and courgettes from the freezer and they had long chats about career progression on the patio. They also talked about the importance of friends.
Friday
The next day, they went to get coffees in the morning but there was a nationwide Rogers outage which meant no cafes could take card payments so they found cash but the coffees were not great. Alex was better but not 100% so chose not to meet Jacomo IRL. Leila worked slowly again whilst Alex joined more onboarding calls.
He was happy because he reached back out to his friends in QB Labs london and was even happier when he joined the multiracial group at McKinsey!
After work they decided to order DoorDash and spent way too long deciding between Sushi places because Leila wanted salmon and avo meanwhile Alex wanted to support the little locals. In the end they chose an OK sushi place but doubledashed with some very expensive but nice dumplings and ate the dinner on the terrace.
The highlight of the day was the evening. They wanted to go for a walk so walked about 20 mins to the east so Place St Henri, got a beer and sat outside the shop but then spotted a really cute restaurant called Tuck Shop which had 4 different home made pies for dessert and luckily one outdoor table with a patio so they grabbed it!!T
They shared a blueberry pie and Leila loved it. Then they walked home to watch final table where the special ingredient was pumpkin
